As a native of Springfield, MA, Bill St. Clair graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1973. By the spring of 73’ he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox to play professional baseball. Bill made the difficult decision to turn down the offer and pursue a college education. By the next fall Bill had started his freshman year at Michigan State University studying landscape architecture. Bill continued to play baseball for Michigan State until he suffered a career ending arm injury in 1975. Through athletics, Bill learned the value of team work and has implemented it as a motto for his business practice.
Bill started St. Clair Landscaping as a summer job mowing lawns to make a little extra money his sophomore year of college. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture in 1977, Bill started designing and installing small landscaping projects in the Springfield area. By 1985 Bill had transformed his lawn mowing business into one of the leading landscape design/build firms in Hampden County. Today, Bill along with his wife Patty, own and operate the design/build firm as well as a wholesale and retail nursery. With over 30 year’s experience, the proof is in the pudding. St. Clair Landscaping & Nursery's commitment to excellence is widely visible throughout the greater Springfield area.
